How about (and I am serious about this) starting a 2nd List that parallel the vanagon list. To be a member of the 2nd list you would have to be a member of the Vanagon list. Whenever topics, like the Linux/IE browser come up, the discussion can be moved to the parallel group. I *like* the points of view and debates that this group has. It is civilized and informed, and interesting even if off topic. Having a parallel group would keep the off topic (yet interesting) discussions from cluttering the Vanagon group (and archives) and yet would be restricted to people who make the vanagon group so interesting.

just my $.02 worth

its hitting 10C in Vancouver, our spring flowers are just poking up through the dirt, and my wife is in Whitehorse Yukon, which is *warmer* than Toronto today. (but it is *not* warm)
