here is a copy of my unfortunate (to me , not them) letter to Overland

http://www.overlandparts.com/vanagon.htm

what I/we need os an importer that will sell KITS that don't require the purchase of a new engine.. though I think it's a grand idea. I do all of my wrenching and I have a small supply of used VW 4&5cyls.

We do not sell any of the component by themselves, because we only have so many in stock at this time to fill our needs for complete kits.

thanks you, Vanagon

I have a question about your vanagon engine conversion kits.,

heres what i have

86 quantum 5cyl 2.3L from a standard tranny car with 56K miles

a 84 vanagon wasserleaker with 100K+ miles

a long history of custom and creative adaptations including my 1.6TD baja bug and 1.8T powered sand rail.

the problem I have is sourcing a South African vanagon 5cyl bellhousing and flywheel.

I don't have a need for a new crated engine, and can fairly easily fabricate mounts and engine management hookups.

though I would possibly be interested in the mounts and crossbar as well.

Is there a specific reason you wouldn't be able to sell me a bellhousing and flywheel?

thanks for your time and help.

Dan
