More on Engine Break-in.

I took another look (I've been there before) at Bob Donalds Description of engine break-in. The only place that I have questions about in his procedure is about grade of engine oil used for break-in. Straight 30 WT vs 10W30. Other than that, I think he is right on all the way. And he may also be right on about his break-in procedures regarding the grade of oil as well. I just know what I have been taught, and I understand the logic of it. That is not to say that for WBX's Bob's approach is incorrect. Just different from my own experience, and his experience may dictate to him that the multi-grade oil is the way to go. And he does specify that multi-grade oil for the engines he builds. So, while I do question the why of the oil grade, I do support the fact that as the re-builder he should be and is in his rights to specify the grade of oil put in the engines he rebuilds. And if a buyer and installer doesn't do it his way, it may very well and should void any warranty. After all, he bears the responsibility of satisfying any warranty claims after the fact. And any time spent having to rework a failed engine under warranty is a financial loss to him, and the financial side of things is what it is all about. So it behooves him to have it right the first time when he specifies a certain grade oil as break-in oil
