To rebuild a horizontal engine such as Bug ,Bus , Air Cooled Vanagon or Water Cooled 2.1 you should get a New piston & cylinder kit./ The pistons & cylinders have a tendency to wear oblong or egg shaped . what you do is put new round rings into 2 egg shaped objects = piston/ cylinder ) It is bad news to do so / Honing NO // Dont be foolish do it correctly !!! I have thousands of the horizontal rebuilds under my belt . Over 40 years of VW parts & service ( TAKE MY ADVICE !!! ) I would also like all the gang to look over our new state of the art site 24 / 7 secure online catalog including Paypal. // Check it out and let me know what you all think of it , that means you to Rich. // VW,s Forever // (www.dvwimportautoparts.com) any questions or comments please email .
