Subject: What so special about the Ignition Coil?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed

Hi,

Is there anything special about the ignition coil for a Vanagon? Pep Boys seems to think they have gold in them. I laid out +$70 for a Borg Warner / Bosch-equivalent coil. I look at Bus Boys - they have the Bosch for $45-50, and a generic brand for $30.

What's so special about the VW coil?

I need the van running and can't wait for mail order. Any equivalent out there - like say for a non-Euro car that would be cheaper I could get from Napa or similar outlet?

Conrad
