Somewhere I saw a really cool paint job that I liked. The Van was a GL, dunno what year, had late style wheels - SA, I think, and it was red/burgundy up on the front half of the van, and navy blue on the rear half. The front and back paint was divided by a curved line that swept up from the bottom of the van just aft of the front doors to the top of the van and across the top. The sweep took the line up just behind the sliding glass in the middle of the van. It was just a smooth arc upward. The sharp edge was the front edge of a yellow band that spread out in flames over the blue, and had tinges of red in the edges of the flame. As I recall the blue was just a tad metallic. It was sharp!!

Just says there are all kinds of possibilities.

>Alright-there it is - that unmistakably shaped vehicle called The Vanagon. Has anyone ever done some nice custom paint to one? ..and if so I would like to see photos- I am getting ready for the spring to paint and would like to see some ideas on color schemes, brands of paint, etc. etc. I will paint it myself in an outdoor booth on a warm day. > I mean what really works with a Vanagon?I have searched Google for Vanagon pics. A solid candy apple red color looks ok -or fat-retro 80 stripes? The old "BALL & CHAIN" says make it baby blue on the bottom and white up top--I think "no"....The shape of the vehicle doesn't lend it to 'traditional' ideas. How about flames? or should I keep it original? > Any short, non aggressive advice will be appreciated. >Gary in Stuart, Florida >1984 Vanagon >1972 "Baha" Beetle > > >--- >Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. >Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). >Version: 6.0.560 / Virus Database: 352 - Release Date: 1/8/04 > > >
