Tromper: Yes, I think it might make it more like a loaf. When I first got a Vanagon back in 1990, I was really disappointed at the lack of traction, compared to the earlier cars. I usually just put a few hundred pounds clear in back behind the back seat. Water softener salt in 80 lb bags works for me, come spring, they just go to their intended destination.
