david, e-code headlights are e-code headlights weather theyre square or round. its more of the brand and fluting that makes the difference. i have some nice Hella e-code round H4 headlights on my 84 van and theyre awesome (relaying helps too of course) along w/ the SA grille. its really just a matter of personal taste..square or round? i like the round euro look of the mk1/mk2 GTI's and so i chose to go w/ the round. if i wanted to keep the square look, id buy your outer e-code square headlights.. anyway, ANYTHING is an improvement over the DOT headlights. chris
