In my experience in Alaska the extreme cold exacerbates the conditons brought on by wear and lack of lubrication. If your CV's are near, at, or beyond wear limits then the cold opens up the clearances even more making the noise and vibration even worse. And worst of all, moves you that more close to parts failure. The cold also inhibits lubrication. So you have the worst possible combination... worn, almost to the failing point parts combined with little or no lub. Now add to that the scenario of ...."It was a dark and stormy night along the mountain pass road, and it was beginning to snow heavily.....!""" and you can be sure that Fate will arrive riding a Black Stallion in the snow, and the parts will fail on the spot!!! No time like the present time to make a pre-emptive strike against fate, and replace those CV's with new ones with fresh and adequate amounts of lub grease.!!!
