A very good source of information on this issue is Don Klipstein's Lighting Info Site http://members.misty.com/don/light.html Here you can find almost anything you always wanted to know about lighting. Another nice site is http://faq.auto.light.tripod.com/signal-leds.htm , especially for exterior lights. Be careful with the lifetime expectance of LED's in an automotive environment. Due to voltage spikes on the 12V the lifetime of LED's in series with simple resistors can be very much shorter than stated in the datasheet. Painfull in the case of expensive LED's :-( Have fun, Jaap '87 caravelle diesel ----- Original Message ----- From: JOHN WESTENBERG <mjjwest02@MSN.COM> Date: Wed, 21 Jan 2004 11:42:56 -0700 To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: light emitting diodes > What does the list think of light emitting diodes (LEDs)? I want to replace some of the interior incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs but have been having trouble finding a source. I am fascinated with the idea of 100,000 hours of light from one bulb. I would also like to replace exterior incandescents with LEDs, but again can find nothing but a flashing break light (I would like something more subtle). Any sources?
