hi all, this isn't vanagon related but thought that i'd ask the question here anyways. i'm looking at possibly buying a 1990 audi quattro 90. it's got an undiagnosed problem. the owner thinks it's a blown heaad gasket but the symptoms don't point to that. no coolant in the oil, oil in the coolant. the main symptom is that there is smoke coming out of the radiator hose from the maine radiator. it's the hose that connects the maine radiator to the auxiliary radiator. the owner pulled the auxiliary radiator and disconnected the hose that connects the two radiators. the hose is connecting only to the main radiator and is free at the other end. when you try to start the car it turns over very slowly with some clicking noises(fuel pump working?) but won't start. the car has been sitting around for a while now so not sure if the gas has gone bad. anyone know what these symptoms are? never heard of smoke coming out of the radiator before. the body on the car is extremely clean and the owner only wants 600 for the car. thanks for any help. ki |
