the stock speakers handle about 10-15 watts max most radio CD players, etc. today crank out far more than this rather basic, not the highend speakers Circuit City, Best Buy, Radio Shack will handle 40 or more W and produce a better sound with the stock wiring - at least that is my experience running Kenwoods in two different vanagons. I have had to fix the wiring in the driver side door on the Westy. the real problem is getting rid of the "collision" between the window crank arm and the speaker grill on the add-on speakers most of which stick out farther than the stock speakers. the arms scrape the Kenwoods a little and I just live with it. Others have made mods to their crank arms and chosen different, though more expensive, IIRC, speakers to solve this. lots about this in the archives. Sam
