One day when you really got the time here is what you got to do. The really is a good idea, too............it has helped me half the time. You got to trace the system from the keyswitch. clean every connection, make sure they are tight. I have found loose. corroded connections under the dash that once i fixed the problem goes away. The main issue is a voltage drop between the key and the solenoid...................sometimes you may even have to rewire a little here and there as you may find wires that are brittle from heat. I have done this on 3 of the last 5 vans that had this problem and they crank every time..............I found this to solve the problem of "starts when cold, but after a long drive, the van will not turn over" Adam P Charleston,SC Coburn, WV 81 Westy "The Brick " 70 Single Cab "Whitey" 74 Beetle "Ol Yeller" 73 Transporter (STILL at paint shop) 1988 Vanagon Wolfsburg 1976 Transporter (New CA bus) 1974 412 "Goldmember" Used Vanagon Parts for sale (mostly aircooled) |
