I'm getting tired of reading some folks messages where a previous message has been quoted. Except I have a different problem. Some of these folks quote some of the text, but it has nothing to distingush that which is quoted, and their replies look like they are part of the original.

I've seen it on several folks now (BenT is one, Stan's another, but it isn't limited to them).

If you are going to quote someone else's message, please SEPARATE your message from there's so that it's easier to parse. Better yet, don't bother to quote. On other listservs, the lesser volume of traffic means that it is can sometimes be important to quote, to make sure folks know what context your reply pertains to. Here, on the vanagon list, the traffic is so high, that we really don't need the quoting most of the time (except perhaps by digest or archival replies...)

Rite, and you for got me ! Watch what happens with this posting. On my screen right now the quoted message is clearly defined as the quoted message and I have left at least four lines before I began my response. Bet all that's gone when it gets on the LISTSERV as usual. It's AOL e-mail software and the LISTSERV software not getting along. I've been trying to find a solution other than not using AOL. I think the biggest problem is the LISTSERV software is way outa date. All other e-mail software programs have advanced, added new features but the LISTSERV software is still back in the dark ages. Stay tuned ! AND, as far a continually quoting and re-quoting and including the entire original message to each and everyone's response. What are you thinking ? Don't YOU go back and read those messages and get frustrated in having to wade through that same million mile message fifty times ? I don't get it. Just CROP the message to relevant information or CUT it out altogether. You all have these functions at your fingertips. (five blank lines left here) Cheers,
