Subject: Fwd: [Syncro] ran out of Gas...

I ran out of gas on the Ohio Turnpike (only about 2000 miles short of my destination, Seattle) due to a glitch in my fuel gauge. Needless to say, I always go on mileage now. But, I happened to have all of my camping gear, including a 750ml bottle of white gas for my WhisperLite stove. I dumped it in and headed off at the next exit to fill up. It holds enough fuel to drive at least a couple miles. Since then, I have always had the small bottle of white gas just in case.

You can buy the MSR brand (there are others, but these are small and lite with a very nice vapor tight screw top) at REI or similar shop for about $8. Best $8 I've spent in a long, long while.
