Subject: Looking for a westy

Hey volks! I've been off the list for five months, but I've got a home base again and I'm back up and running. My wife, great dane (Gabe) and I left Nelson, British Columbia in Moaning Myrtle (84 westy) on July 25 and drove across Canada to Newfoundland (family there). We spent 2 months there, doing sea kayak trips and then we drove back to BC through the southern States getting back to Canada Dec.10. We had a fantastic time and I'd do it all again. Myrtle was a trooper although she was loaded up with two 19' sea kayaks and paddling gear, plus rock climbing gear and everything else we needed for 5 months. We put 23,000 kms on her and had only one major mishap - we had to get a new pilot bearing and subsequent clutch in Ottawa. We did put one new ball joint on in Nashville, but that was pretty minor. We now live in Vernon, BC. Anyway, I have a friend in Vancouver, looking for a 88 - 91 westy, reasonably priced and in decent shape. We've been out driving plenty but haven't found the right one yet. I think he'd like to buy in Canada, but I wouldn't rule out Washington, Idaho or Oregon. Anyhow, I thought I'd see if anyone on the list knew of one. Thanks volks! Ciao for now Steve (Moaning Myrtle - 84 Westy)
