Mike, I've gotten a lot of responses, nothing negative overall -- just caution on who will fix it when things go wrong. As for the cost, one person mentioned a cost of around $3,500 to do the conversion when all is said and done -- IF you do it yourself. You can go to http://www.smallcar.com and see what a turnkey conversion will cost. In addition to the engine conversion, you should seriously consider a big brake upgrade, all things that go should be able to stop. I've see that Smallcar also has the rear disc break upgrade as well. So, I think I'll be doing 15" wheels soon, then upgrade the brakes, then engage the engine conversion. -Robert -----Original Message----- From: Mike Miller <mwmiller@CWNET.COM> To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Sent: Fri, 23 Jan 2004 21:50:50 -0800 Subject: Re: Your Opinion: Subaru or not to Subaru (Engine swap)

Like how expensive is the conversion?

Mike
