Hello All I just went through the job and found a good old fashioned wire brush ( simialar to those used for scrapping old paint off houses) worked the best.Got this tip from Bob Donald.It wasn't easy required lots of elbow grease but it turned out nice.Also used a cordless drill with smaller wire wheels for the hard to reach spots. Bob also has an aluminum paint you can use for a finishing touch if you so desire. I chose to leave the engine case au natural and painted the trans and it looks really sharp!!!
