Don't rest on your laurels just yet. That nut you tightened down affixes to a stud that's a *press fit* into the mirror. As you tighten down on the nut you tend to pull out the stud, resulting in the "floppy mirror" syndrome. Eventually the stud can come out completely.

One fix is to remove the stud, use an appropriately sized drill bit to drill a hole from the bottom of the hole the stud sat in and out the top of the mirror arm, and then replace the stud completely with a stainless steel bolt or screw. --------------------------------------------------------------- Tom Young '81 Vanagon Lafayette, CA 94549 '82 Westfalia --------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dylan Kahler" <dkahler@UPS.EDU> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Monday, January 26, 2004 9:19 PM Subject: loose mirror no more
