If every thing else is in good shape, you prol'ly got a deal even with the engine going t*t's up. Sounds like you are ready for a rebuild. You might just do a compression check, and have the coolant tank sniffed for petro carbo stuff. Those checks would give you pretty strong evidence that the engine is gone or not.
