Using a double male cord to allow the possible connection of 2 power sources to a circuit is stupid and dangerous. Having 110 volts on the plug outside the van in the rain can not be a good thing. Another problem is energizing the wiring in the vehicle without a proper ground. Inverter outputs are floating and due to their wave forms, they can set up stray inductive currents in the cords connected to them. Now imagine some voltage being generated in the Westy's ground wire. This voltage is now on the van's body. You go to step in or out, and zappo. Considering the small space of the Westy, why not just plug your TV or whatever into the inverter directly.

I've got a 700W Husky inverter from Home Despot (about $70) mounted in the secret compartment next to the water tank, but since you don't have a westy, that's for naught. For the record, instead of hacking the stock wiring, I ran a short extension with a male plug on each end from the inverter to the outlet for the fridge. This powers the outlet inside by the bed.

Nothing better than watching slide shows of death-defying exploits while camped in the boonies!
