Driving home a few minutes ago, I took a short cut through a dark
residential section of town and hit my high beams. When I hit the low
beams again, to my surprise the world went dark. I pulled back and the
high beams came on, then tried low beams again and nothing.

I had to drive with high beams the rest of the way home.

In the driveway, when I am in low beam position on the stalk, I have no
headlights. When I pull back, just before the high beams engage with a
click, the low beams come on.

Any ideas? Time for a new switch?

This is on the 83 diesel.
