Check also the distance from the rear brake shoes to the drum walls at rest. When all of the back brake parts wear, the distance becomes greater than the adjusters can handle, you have to make up the difference by putting cotter pins in the "U" piece of metal opposite the adjuster side (or buy a new "U" piece but I could not find one...). What this does is spread the shoes out to the right distance so the adjuster can be used correctly. Without this fix, the first push on the brake pedal spreads the back shoes a little, then the next quick push again spreads them more to make correct contact. It took me a long time to figure this one out and fix it correctly. It has been fine for years now. 2 $0.25 cotter pins sure beats buying and changing out a new master cylinder... I hope this helps.
