<snip> We think it's the cv, but we are unsure because the noise occurs when traveling straight, which is unexpected.. <snip> When they are bad enough, they'll knock when going straight. I was on a long trip once where I had to frequently pull over .... crawl under and grab the axle like a javelin and thrust it back and forth a time or two in order to drive down the highway without it constantly knocking. After I returned home, I pulled the CVs and cleaned 'em up and regreased 'em ... even though the balls and races were obviously worn and pitted. That bought me some time so I could drive it while waiting for new ones. Mike Houlton, Maine |
