Subject: CHEAP exhaust fans for propane heater

I have been planning on getting one of these, and in anticipation of
using it (and having read warnings on earlier threads) I mounted an
exhaust fan in my westy. Actually, I mounted two. They are the 4-inch
square fans out of computer power supplies. You can mount them with
three small screws each in the upper corners of the window screen
frame over the stove/sink in the westie. You could remove the fans and
screws and no one would notice the tiny holes.
You screw each fan into the frame using three of the four corners of
the fan, with the fourth corner cantilevered... there's nothing to
screw it to, but the arrangement is plenty sturdy. I can just crack the
window and start one fan for ventilation, or open it all the way up and
run both fans. They wire into the fluorescent light circuit above, and
each operate with a radio shack slide switch epoxied to the fan body.
With the kitchen lid in the up position, the fans clear the top of the
lid perfectly, exhausting steam and what-have-you.
Crack a front window with the front fan on and I don't think you'd have
to worry about condensation or lack of fresh air. And they don't draw
enough current to worry about.
