David: My '87 Westy did the same thing until I showed it to fellow Listee Karl Wolz. The door would open but not easily slide backwards. Detective W. quickly found the problem... the latch on the rear end of the door was hanging up. It had lost one of the mounting screws and the other was loose. I temporarily tightened the loose screw and soon replaced the lost one. Works like it should now. HTH
