Now, having owned 4 Vanagons (1 2WD, 3 Syncro's) I can say it is common for the OE parts to lasts damn near forever. The Syncro I recently retired had over 215 Kmi. on the original shocks with no indications that they needed replacement. That van had its original front wheel bearings changed when one of them started to go at 170Kmi. One of the replacement bearings I got from You-Know-Who had to be replaced within 30 Kmi. That was enough reason for me to go to the dealer for parts whenever possible. I have developed a working relationship with the dealer's parts guy and, now, he knocks off at least 30% just so he doesn't have to hear my whining.
