I have done several waterboxer head gasket changes and head replacements in the car as well as helped other friends and family with the same jobs. All were successes and ran for a long time. Patience will be needed so don't do it under any firm time limit.

As long as you have a protected area to work in and good lighting available, go for it. After the heads are off it is crucial that you clean all the mating surfaces and o-ring grooves to near surgical cleanliness.

Be sure to put the rear wheels up on ramps or some such. The extra room will let you be more careful and certain of what you are doing.
