Everyone who experiences this should consider shoes and drums. I had the exact symptoms that were checked out several times, and ended up being something no one suspected. Near the same time I had to replace a cv joint, it clicked when the car was turning. The tighter the turn, the worse the click. In the case of the shoes/drums, the noise was more of a clunk and could hardly be heard in loud traffic.
