I'm installing a heater and want to plumb it directly into the tank, so need to buy the required fittings. What are they called?>>>>

They are copper compression fittings. You can get them at HOME Hardware, NAPA, Canadian Tire, propane dealer, etc. To install new lines you will need a flare tool to make the flare at the end of the new line. Flare tool should be available at NAPA or other fine auto parts stores or maybe Princess Auto.
