Hi William,

IIRC the cigarette lighter is held in by (I think it's 2) plastic tabs. You can get access to the lighter by dropping your glovebox. There are a couple of plastic cables that restrict how far the glovebox opens ---- these clip into notches at the back of the glovebox --- you'll see them. Flip these out of the notches and the glovebox will flop all the way forward (did I mention emptying the glovebox first :-). Now you can reach over and get your hands on the back of the cigarette lighter --- squeeze the plastic tabs while pushing/pulling on the lighter socket and out she comes.

Cheers, Doug

Can anyone tell me how to remove the cigarette lighter in a 1989 vanagon GL? I'm trying to isolate a short in that system. Are there pages in Bentley?

William
