None of the OEM VW Vanagon rims are wider than 5.5". On my CrewCab, I'm running 14x6 steel Mercedes-Benz wheels. They are dirt cheap (I paid $80 for a set of 4), have the exact proper offset and are a DIRECT BOLT ON. All I had to do was remove the pesky retaining bolts on the rear drums. And they almost look like factory rims. A picture of the rims on my CrewCab can be seen at: http://volksweb.relitech.com/party2002.htm (Note: Click on thumbnails for expanded images!) These wider rims allow me to run 27x8.50R14 tires safely (minimum width as recommeded by the tire manufacturers is 6"). I'll post the MB part numbers if anyone is interested.
