My speedo (or maybe cable?) makes noise in cold weather until I travel for a while. The indicator needle jumps around and does not report the correct speed or mileage. Is there any way to lube this thing or am I simple looking at imminent failure as is suspected? in my old 80, it was the cable that was dry ... i unscrewed the cable from the speedo and got some oil down it and the noise and jumping needle went away. but in later buses, it was just gummed-up old grease in the speedo head itself ... had to take it out and spray cleaner all around in the gear, then shake it all out and spray some lubricant in amongst the gears. so far, so good. :) good luck! joel |
