If you're going to buy new wheels, Derek's 16's are probably the best
choice out there. The only draw back of this wheel is that standard
wheel weights do not fit on the outside and the clear coat seems easily
scratched. The 225/60-16 is the same size as now used on the Eurovan.
Both Michelin and Dunlop make a reinforced tire for this application in
this size. It is a bit expensive. A standard tire in this size will have
adequate load rating, just make sure it is rated to 44psi, many are. I
am using Goodyear Wrangler HP on my Syncro Westy, size 215/65-16. This
is a 27" tire, (225/60 ~26.5). I chose this tire due to the deep tread,
HR speed rating, and high tread wear. So far I am quite happy. Excellent
ride and handling. They are even resisting the Syncros desire to chew
the edges on the fronts. Both of these tire sizes will require modifying
the tire carrier and leaving deflated for a spare. Make sure this is
acceptable to you.

I just bought a set of 16" wheels from Drew Derek for my 89 2WD Westy
and
plan on using 225-60/16 tires from Yokohama with 779 or so revolutions
per
mile which is close to the stock 800 and some. I think it will be the
same
height as my existing 14" with 85 series tires so I can get it into my
garage. Drew has a lot of information on this subject at

the
information buy is there any 2WD owner using 15 inches wheels or it is
only
a Synchro subject ? The fact is that I am not sure that the clearance is
the
same so I would like to ear it from a 2WD owner: does it worth it ? What
tire recommendation ?
