I drive a perfectly functioning 1991 Multivan with about 72k miles. Nothing wrong with the motor, so I'm not considering an upgrade there. I have a K&N filter installed.

My question to you wise folks is this: what sort of performance gain, if any, might I expect from replacing the stock exhaust system with something 'better' (e.g. S&S headers, free flow muffler,....). I'm looking to increase mileage and, if possible, gain a bit of power.

Joel, the _STEBRO/Vanagon Stainless Steel Muffler_ (http://members.aol. com/Fkc43/stebro.htm) that I sell is a flow through design. This reduces the back pressure on the engine and allows for freer breathing. Performance increase about 5% we figure. We have no access to a dynamometer so have never done any accurate testing. Please consider my STEBRO/Vanagon Stainless Steel Exhaust System before making a decision. Cheers,
