Hello All, I was chatting with a local VW van repair place today (BusLab, Berkeley, CA) and they mentioned that someone in Los Osos is producing rebuilt motors in several sizes: 2.1L, 2.2L, 2.3L and 2.4L. At 175K+ on our 88 Westy, I've been lurking around the SubaruVanagon list with interest of a bit more horsepower. The dream of doing more than 45mph in third gear up hill in a loaded camper, two kids and roof full of sailboards seems quite enticing. Doing the Subaru/VW hybrid thing doesn't sound like the way to go for us as I'd prefer to not have to tinker too much and/or deal with VW and Subaru pointing fingers at each other as to why something is amuck. Does anyone have any comments, experience or advice on these motors (specifically larger than the stock 2.1L)? Any reason not to go with the 2.4L and actually keep up with traffic on the hills? Kirk out
