John, 1. Lasts Longer 2. Handles many, many more discharge cycles if you use 12 volt stuff much 3. No out gassing. Although the battery box is vented .. I like the idea of a battery that doesn't outgas since its in my living area. 4. Prettier :) 5. Gives you something to show off at campouts.
