As I was driving my new 87 syncro home a couple weeks ago the throttle cable broke. I thought no problem, I have changed this on my 85 twice. So I got the new cable and went to change it. Man does that driveshaft protection stuff get in the way, makes for a much harder job than on the 2WD. The front part came out fine, but when I disconnected the engine end and tried to pull it out from the middle of the van, it got stuck between the gas tank and the transmission. I tried pushing and pulling and finally the rubber broke and the long metal coil inside pulled out. I can't get the piece to move, and I cant reach it, there is just no room. Has anyone every had this problem? Is there anything I can loosen and move to get better access to it? If I can't get it out this weekend I guess I will have to have my brother work the throttle while I steer to the nearest shop. It has been below freezing almost everyday since I got it and working underneath it is pretty cold. I want to get it going before all the snow melts so I can put it to good use.
