Mmmmmm..... Am having a problem dealing with NON OEM head gasket, every time i have rebuilt engine/head with aftermarket brands, the result was a "fiasco".

Even if VW is one of the worse company in regards of good gasket!!! They don't know how to make good rubber gasket, they simply don't know.

Every 10+ years old VW is leaking, period.

I would still buy OEM. (IMHO)

As for the heads, have them tested by a PRO wile they are out!!!!!!!!!!!!
