Subject: Sliding door lock stuck - Vanagon 83
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed

Hi,

I've got a Vanagon '83 and the sliding door lock is stuck. The unlock-via-key from outside has NEVER worked since I got this (used) vehicle, but I was able to open the passenger-side door and manipulate the inside lock switch to lock or unlock the sliding door.

Until today. The inside lock switch is now in the 'locked' position and doesn't want to budge from that position.

Can anybody provide tips on how to get it 'unstuck'? I have tried various combinations of holding the outside and inside door handles in various positions but it isn't helping. I also tried bashing the lock switch a bit but no luck.

If pictures would be useful to anyone in diagnosing what's going on let me know and I can make them available.

Many thanks,

Joel Thornton
