If you're getting the tune up to pass State Inspection you should qualify with the tech that that's what you expect. I've found that with Vanagons and VW Busses of all years there can be several elusive and expensive combinations that cause poor performance. If a reputable shop is doing the work and supplying the parts at retail then the $160.00 sounds reasonable. Considering that a tune up can be anything from setting the timing and replacing the plugs to replacing every part of the ignition and FI system required to get it to perform properly. The $160.00 with parts sounds like a real bargain to me. ----------------- By the way Larry .......... you wasted your money on that Optima Battery, it was the dog gassing off all that time.
