Thanks for the response Jerry. Pardon my ignorance, but what is TriFlow? Is this like WD40 or some kind of Silicon spray or something? I guess what I'm getting at is it OK to spray some kind of petroleum based lubricant in there or will that just attract more grit?

When mine has gotten noisy, usually on a long trip, I have disconnected the cable from the back of the speedo and sprayed some (actually, just a spritz) TriFlow in the end of the cable . Jerry
