Frank, do you have a container of dielectric grease which says the stuff is a conductor??? That's really shocking. Hehe.

Seriously, it works even though it's actually an insulator (eg, "dielectric"). The film of grease is displaced by metal to metal contacts and helps keep those connections gas tight. //Jack

Apology to all. Seems I was wrong in thinking that dielectric grease was a conductor and enhanced electrical connections. I looked on the tube I have in the shop and no where is that stated. I went to Permatex's website and looked up their description of their dielectric grease and they do not state anywhere that it is a conductor. They do say it will "increase performance" of electrical connections. Now, where I got my misinformation is another matter. It sure seems to me that long ago when I first leaned about dielectric grease while I was working designing and building electrical aspects of fire trucks for Almonte Fire Trucks INC. I read on the tube of dielectric grease that was always supplied with each electrical component I installed, that it enhanced the electrical conductivity of the connection. Well, I don't have access to those tubes any longer and it's been over five years ago so maybe my mind has dreamed up this whole story. Sorry if I mislead anyone down the garden path and there was no garden there ! Cheers,
