You may need to go where there is a larger counter-culture (i.e. "hippies"
and hippie wanna-be's).  It seems the Northwest has a better than average
number of Vanagons, and I would guess the Bay area would be a good place to
find one, too.  Depending on where in the "middle of the country" you are,
you might also try Boulder, CO.  They're not unusual in the Denver area, but
I see one about every two blocks whenever I go up to Boulder.
