The reason there were more Vanagons sold in the U.S. in 1990 vs. '88 & '89, is that was a year when VW tried to "buy it's way back into the market" as the VW salesman put it. This is also what they did with the Eurovan in 2001 or whatever year they dropped the price $5k and increased the HP. In late '89 I was looking at used Westy's ('89's), when I discovered I could buy a new '90 for about the same price. I did and I am still driving it. Jerry
