Hi Tom,

I did this conversion to my 90 GL last Summer. Here is a list of what you should install:

Large side panel with the indent for the table

Smaller side panel for the other side

Bench seat and frame, the table version has a narrower bench seat

Two real area panel one for each side

Table and frame

You'll need to buy 1/4" j-channel (or use screws and washers)

You'll also need to move the rear bench seat catch posts

It is a fairly easy conversion if you have all the tools; which I didn't so it took me most of the summer; being on a budget and having to look for a welder. In all it cost me:

100 interior parts

5 bolts and Teflon bushing for new seat posts for the catches

10 welding I put in one jump seat and had the floor brackets welded

2 in various rivet sizes

20 new cup holders

The hardest part

Initial set up and measurements to the table bracket (I probable spent 2 hours fitting and refitting before I cut the body and mounted the table frame. You have to cut a little bit of the body under the window (you'll see once the side panel is off.))

Future plans:

Remove the panels and install insulation for sound muffling

New carpet forth rear area

Biggest regret:

I couldn't convince the wife that I needed to buy another tool (welder, compressor (not needed for the job), etc...)

Good luck, if you have any other questions I'm more than happy to answer them.

Jere

Subject: Carat Interior Conversion HELP

I want a table in my 91 GL so I bought the two plastic interior pieces(one for each side of the rear seat), the table and the bracket. Now I pull off the existing panel and I do not see how it all mounts in there.

Am I missing something? I know people have done this before, what is the trick??

Enjoy your day!

Tom Boyd
