Ahh, the table with a malfunctioning or broken lock. It either sticks or won't hold at all. I went through two factory locking nechanisms, when I realized I had laying around what it takes to make a permanant fix, always holds, never sticks or breaks. The mystery part? Why, that old broken or obsolete hard disk! Take it apart by finess or by force, and harvest the magnet in it's corner. Any 3.5" hard drive will contain some sort of super-strong magnet(s) in one corner, and corresponding steel plate (usually). Attach magnet to side of van interior, and steel plate to table. Violin, the table stays in place, but can be released fairly easily. The magnet could be mounted to the table, but it might erase your laptop's disk in that case. To fix sagging, just rub the supports with a little slurry made of viagra and vasoline. (It's just about Fried day here!) The table in my 90 Carat isn't level when extended. The outer edge hangs probably 1"-1.5" lower. It doesn't really seem like there's excessive play before it "locks" - that is, I can only lift up on the table about .5" Can this be adjusted? Of less importance, it also doesn't lock in the closed position. I'm not sure if there is missing hardware but the pin/spring mechanism on the table appears complete/functional, and there is a metal ring in the receptacle on the side panel. But it won't click closed, no matter how hard I press. Thanks yet again, James 90 Carat |
