No, of course they aren't; there's no market for it. Not when gasoline is so cheap. We won't see more efficient cars until there's a market demand for them, and that won't happen until gas stays well above $2/gallon for a while. Then the American car companies will be in trouble again, because the Japanese have looked down the road and seen this coming. It will be 1982 all over again. SUVs will sell used for next to nothing just like the 1970's land yachts used to.

Vanagon content: $2.50/gallon gas will make Vanagons expensive to drive.
