In southeast Virginia (probably a little higher than you were talking about) there is a decent supply of Vanagons, however they are slowly disappearing. Locally, there are a few in the paper now and a couple others that I know of for sale. Mostly 7 passenger models with few takers. Many of them are beat within an inch of their lives. Every once and awhile a nice Carat or (rarely) a late westy will show up. In fact, there is a 90 westy that I see regularly at a local bar/restaurant -- either an employee has a nice ride or someone is drowning their sorrows about leaking heads. In the summer, visiting vacationers raise the westy count considerably with a few of the older ones gracing the side of the road. Typical of local ones are seam rust and leaking heads. Last time I was at the local shop the owner said 70% of the vans on the lot had head trouble (and he had about 6 there that day). The nice ones and the westy's get fixed while the rest become driveway sculpture -- I never see any in the yards and when one does show up it stays there (with most of it's parts on it) for months.
