Subject: Subaru Donor Car in the NY LI area
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

I'm looking into putting a Subaru engine into my Vanagon. I came across this, spoke with the guy, but since he's in NY and I'm in FL, well, shipping is naturally a problem. So, I'm passing the info along to everyone else here.... 1991 Subaru Legacy, ~140K miles -- runs but transmission is done, kaput. Owner has listed this on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2460940578) and if you want parts, just call or email him. I was thinking of taking the whole car and shipping it down here, but I don't think it will be economically sensible (I can get access to the engine in much closer areas). Anyway, I spoke to the guy and he said he's gotten a lot of calls about the engine. He is willing to take the car to a mechanic for engine and parts removal, but he sounds like an average driver that is not mechanically inclined. The owner posted his phone number on eBay, so here it is here: 631-988-3463. The location identified in the ad for the vehicle is Ronkonkoma on Long Island (I have NO idea where that is, I'm from OK :-) Anyway, I thought about it, but can't see it working out for me, hope this is useful to someone else.... Happy transplanting.... -Robert

PS - Lesson learned with this post: Don't start your message with "OK" or it bounces back because the list server thinks you're sending a command...
